Friends of Dragon Run hike on Jan. 26

Friends of Dragon Run will host a hike on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 1 pm at their Big Island Complex, with three private trails, 442 acres of protected wilderness, bald cypress trees, and great views of Dragon Run and the Dragon Run swamp. Hikes will start and end at the parking area and last for about two hours. To attend, register at www.dragonrun.org.

Winter Water Fowl Count

Teams will be out and about on both Saturday Feb. 1 and Sunday Feb. 2 counting in Caroline, Essex, Middlesex, Richmond, Lancaster, Northumberland, Westmoreland and King George, Mathews, Gloucester, King & Queen Counties. See member email for details.

Pollinator Garden Relocation

Lance Gardener, Environmental Specialist at VDOT, is requesting help with the relocation of a pollinator garden at VDOT’s Residency Office in Haynesville.  Lance is relocating the garden in advance of construction and plans to include it as a demonstration garden, open to the public. He has proposed work to take place on the following three days:  Jan. 17, 31 and Feb. 14, from 1pm to 4 each day.  See member email for details.
